Speakers Program – “Lessons in Heritage Conservation”
Julia Gersovitz, O.C. is Canada’s leading conservation architect and professor at McGill’s School of Architecture. She will share lessons to be learned from her long experience with major heritage projects (e.g., Rideau Hall and the West Block) and in protecting the heritage character of Westmount, where she lives.
Rockcliffe Park Garden Club – “Successfully Gardening in Containers”
Lana Doss, Owner of The Fine Gardening Group, will speak on “Successfully Gardening in Containers.” Lana has relished playing in the dirt since she was a child and continues to share that delight with others. She has spent over 25 years of her career in a leadership role in horticulture, mainly for reputable garden centres. She teaches Plant Health at Algonquin College and delivers gardening work- shops. She runs her own gardening company and beautifies the many gardens at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. The Fine Gardening Group specializes in workshops, consult- ing, container gardening, teaching people to grow their own food, perennial maintenance, tropicals and culinary gardens. During her presentation she will cover selecting the right containers, best soil for planting in pots, plant selection and plant maintenance. As a highlight Lana will create a delight- ful spring basket as a giveaway.
Speakers Program – Richard Fadden on “National Security Threats to Canada and the West”
CSIS and National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister will tell us about cyber threats, ter- rorism, espionage and other foreign influences that threaten our security, our institutions and our way of life.
