Endorsement of Rockcliffe Park as a Historic District of National Significance

On July 21, 2021, the City of Ottawa endorsed the application by the Rockcliffe Park Resident’s Association for commemoration as a Historic District of National Significance under the Historic Sites and Monuments Act.

Heritage Report calls for fundamental change to Ottawa’s management of its heritage districts

Heritage architect, conservator, and planner, Julian Smith, has issued a  report, Ottawa’s Heritage Conservation Districts at Risk: Report and Recommendations (Smith Heritage Report, Oct 2018). The report follows discussions with community associations representing 16 of Ottawa’s 20 heritage districts, along with Heritage Ottawa, and calls for big changes to the way Ottawa deals with its heritage conservation districts.
