Picture this: Crates instead of stairs, orphans in rags poking out their dirty little heads, pickpockets working the crowd, a judge who is a little deaf, a little blind, and maybe a little tipsy. This is the world currently being created by Elmwood Theatre courtesy of Neil Bartlett’s adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens novel, Oliver Twist.
From rags to riches, this tale follows the journey of an orphan who makes his way from one misadventure to another. Along the way he meets ruffians, thieves and sympathetic women, and finally finds his place in the world. You will leave the theatre asking for more!
Evening performances take place from February 28 to March 3 at 7:00 pm; afternoon matinees are at 2:00 pm on March 3 and 4 at Elmwood School, 261 Buena Vista Road. Tickets are $25 adults/$20 students and seniors. For more information, call 613 749-6761, ext. 21.
