RPRA Food Bank Fundraiser
RPRA Food Bank Fundraiser
On Nov 30, 2018, the RPRA launched its Food Bank Fundraiser with a wonderful event at St. Bart’s, which raised almost $7,000. So far, the campaign has raised over $13,000, but our target is $25,000. Donations to RRCRC Food Bank are welcome by mail or drop-off (to RPRA’s free-standing mailbox outside the library) at 380-A Springfield Rd. Rockcliffe ON K1M 0K7. Donations will receive a tax receipt, so please include your address. Thank you for supporting our local Food Bank!

Honouring past RPRA presidents
On November 21 at the Community Hall, the RPRA honoured with a plaque the four former presidents of the RPRA. These are left to right Anthony Keith, Jane Dobell, Peter Lewis, Brian Dickson and Alex Macklin. The RPRA was established in 2001, upon amalgamation with the City of Ottawa, to be the interface between the Village and the newly enlarged city and to continue to protect its heritage character, its natural environment and encourage a sense of community. Jane Dobell was its founding president (2001 – 2004), followed by Anthony Keith (2005 – 2007), Alexander Macklin (2007 – 2008) and Brian Dickson (2009 – 2016).

Heritage Report calls for fundamental change to Ottawa’s management of its heritage districts
Heritage architect, conservator, and planner, Julian Smith, has issued a report, Ottawa’s Heritage Conservation Districts at Risk: Report and Recommendations (Smith Heritage Report, Oct 2018). The report follows discussions with community associations representing 16 of Ottawa’s 20 heritage districts, along with Heritage Ottawa, and calls for big changes to the way Ottawa deals with its heritage conservation districts.

Rockcliffe Park Residents Association with the community associations of Lindenlea, Manor Park and New Edinburgh invite you to a Candidates’ Forum on Monday evening 15th October, 7:30 – 9:30 pm at the Queen Juliana Hall (gymnasium of Rockcliffe Park Public School). As with our previous election debates, mayoral candidates, followed by councillor candidates, will be invited to give a brief summary of their views, followed by a Q&A period.
